Saturday, Dec 29th

Did the deadlift/box jump team workout from regionals 2011 with the competition crew at UCF today first.
21-15-9
Deadlift #225/#185
Box Jump 30"/24"
One guy, one girl, alternating sets (first person does 21dl, then second person does 21 dl, first person does 21 box jumps, etc....)

My partner (DA! My buddy from Maine!) and I finished in 8:45 and I did all my sets UB with #185 and 24". Since I'm putting my chips in to go team this year, I may need to start following the Big Dawg blog a day behind so that I can sub in our team workouts more effectively. Today's workout didn't feel like much at first due to the extra rest between sets, but it took a bit of a toll by the time I finished all of the blog work.

I am very excited to be working with the team this year though! Having done individuals twice, I can say with pretty good surety that I'm never gonna make it to the games on my own. It's time for a new experience, and though I feel like I'm a solid competitor in that I'm pretty well rounded, have good headspace and experience for game day, and I work hard, I still feel like I need to prove myself in the 'team' arena, and I think that's just what I need to push me harder this year.

Here's a snapshot of the team (and me as the honorary individual member) from 2011!

A. Snatch balance 3, 3, 3, 3, 3; rest 2 min
B. Hang squat snatch; 2 reps x14 sets; rest 45 sec bw sets (55-75% 1rm for all sets, work on speed and technique)
+
For time:
25 CTB chin ups
25 back squat @70% 1rm
25 toes to bar
25 back squat @50% 1rm
25 CTB chin ups

A. #83, #103, #113, #123, #133 (Failed on second rep. Got to the bottom and it was just a little too forward).
B. six sets with #63 and eight sets with #73. Added a bit of conscious practice going from floor to above the knees position with letting my hips rise as I had several good sets of eyes point out that I'm having an issue with that based on the vid from yesterday.
+
16:28 with #150 and #110 for the back squats. Did everything in sets of 5, though I don't think I needed to break it up so much for the lighter set of back squats. It was a bit of a mental crutch. Also lost some time transitioning my bar/weights on and off as I have one of those rigs where the rack sits in the way of the pull up bar.
